Besides for their recreational and social uses, parks offer both improved air quality and a place anyone can go to take a deep breath and relax in natural surroundings. This a significant wellness option for everyone, but it is critical for people who have anxiety disorders and for people with autism (ASD). Anxiety is now one of the most common mental health disorders in the UK, and autism diagnoses in the UK are estimated in a 2023 Lancet Regional Health – Europe report to be more than double the recorded numbers.
